📝 Understanding Indiana Medicaid Waivers

 

1️⃣ PathWays for Aging Waiver

🔹 Who It’s For:

• Individuals 60 years and older

🔹 Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be enrolled in Indiana Medicaid

• Must meet nursing facility level of care

• Must need support to continue living safely at home or in a community setting

• Must be enrolled in a Managed Care Entity (MCE) like Humana, Anthem, or UnitedHealthcare

🔹 Services May Include:

• Attendant care

• Home and community assistance

• Non-medical transportation

• Medication reminders

• Community integration and more

2️⃣ Health & Wellness Waiver

🔹 Who It’s For:

• Adults ages 18–59 with:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

  • Physical disabilities

  • Chronic health conditions

  • Behavioral health needs

🔹 Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be enrolled in Indiana Medicaid

• Must meet institutional level of care (e.g., nursing facility level)

• Must be eligible for services that help them remain at home or engage in the community

🔹 Services May Include:

• Personal care and attendant services

• Life skills training

• Community transportation

• Home support

• Help with daily living tasks (ADLs and IADLs)

🔄 What’s Changed?

Indiana recently consolidated several waivers under these two programs. For example:

• The Aged & Disabled (A&D) Waiver is now part of PathWays for Aging

• The TBI Waiver is now part of the Health & Wellness Waiver
